The FAR Fund Project's success depends on the engagement of the local mental health community. As a member of that community, you can participate in any of the following ways:

Join our clinician database – We are still compiling and organizing our clinician data. If you have joined, you will soon receive project updates. You may also check this site to learn more about The FAR Fund Project and the New Orleans-Birmingham Psychoanalytic Center. To join our clinician data base, please complete the section in CONTACT US.

Join a reading/discussion group – We are holding a  leader-facilitated reading and discussion group about adult onset trauma beginning on Wednesday, November 4, 2009, and continuing biweekly on Wednesdays from 7-8:30 pm at the NOBPC, 3624 Coliseum Street. In this study group we will read and discuss selected chapters from Dr. Boulanger's book as well as her New Orleans lecture. The cost of the entire series (4 group sessions) is $60.00, excluding cost of the book, which may be purchased at a discount. You do not need to be a New Orleans-Birmingham Psychoanalytic Center member to join this group, but you do need to register. If interested, please call us at (504) 899-5815, or send an email to info@ffpnola.com.

NOTE: At present the Novermber-December 2009 reading and discussion group is full. However, if you would like to join such a group, please send us your contact information and tell us to put your name on a waitlist. If there is wide interest we will make every effort to run another study group series.

Take advantage of a clinician support group with ongoing consultation by Dr. Boulanger– If there is sufficient interest, the FAR Fund Project, the New Orleans Birmingham Psychoanalytic Center, and Trinity Counseling Center will co-sponsor and create a clinician support group at Trinity Counseling Center. This free pilot group would be available free of charge to local therapists who wish to talk about their personal and professional experiences during and after Katrina. Dr. Boulanger helped design the model for the group and would provide ongoing consultation to the leaders [hyperlink to bio].  If you would be interested in joining such a group, please call (504) 899-5815, or send us an email at: info@ffpnola.com. We need to know from you if such a group is needed.

Lectures and Workshops – In February 2009, Ghislaine Boulanger, Ph.D., spoke about the effects of Hurricane Katrina on therapists and therapy in New Orleans. She led two separate workshops in which clinicians discussed complex therapeutic issues raised by Katrina and the aftermath. Participants received concrete help and support for ongoing clinical work with those affected by Katrina – both therapists and clients. Feedback about the lecture and workshops was extremely positive.

THANK YOU TO ALL WHO ATTENDED THE LECTURE AND WORKSHOPS; YOUR PARTICIPATION WAS EXTRAORDINARY.

Dr. Boulanger's lecture is presented in its entirety on a separate page of this site.
